In spring of 2023 we are continuing our irrigation work. In the two villages Beya and Seya Jangal the villagers need irrigation pools to water their almond trees and plant wheat and vegetables. Irrigation structures like small pools serve as water reservoirs and facilitate water management. It allows increasing the amount of land under cultivation and increases the number of trees that can be irrigated. This will improve the incomes and food security of the villagers and it will strengthen their resilience in the face of climate change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The locals gathered at the site of the pool and explained to Naim, our local project manager, what they intend to do and what they hope to achieve by building a pool. Here you can see some of the villagers of Seya Jangal. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

DARYA is supporting the initiative of the locals by providing the necessary building materials. Our work is supported by private donations and the NGO Jugend Eine Welt. The costs of the pools are relatively low – only about 70.000 Afghani or roughly 800 Euros – because the villagers will use local materials but they will make a huge difference in the lives of the people. We want to be able to implement more of these projects – please support us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
